Concerts in Canton Uniting Church, Autumn 2025:
*November 23rd* Sunday 3pm 'Labyrinth' - Richard Boothby, Lucy Robinson (viols), Andrew Wilson-Dickson (harpsichord). Suggested donation for entry: £10 adults/ £5 full-time students. Supporting CUC building fund.
During this concert we play a richly complex piece by Marin Marais which follows the story of Theseus slaying the Minotaur, a horrible monster trapped in a labyrinth. Surrounding this is spectacular music by other French composers for the viol: François Couperin and J-B Forqueray. The music finishes with an equally virtuosic piece by Wilson-Dickson, written in 2010! Richard Boothby founded Fretwork, a world-famous consort of viol-players. His family has its origins in Fonmon Castle, near Roose!
